    Job Description

    Southeastern Surveying and Mapping Corporation, founded in 1972, is a 100% employee-owned company, providing services for land surveying and mapping, subsurface utility engineering, and geographic information systems.    

    We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated CADD Technician III to join our team in our TAVARES location.  

    POSITION SUMMARY

    As a CADD TechniciaIII, you must be able to quickly adapt in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You must have prior CADD Technician experience at a land surveying firm. This role is expected to meet tight deadlines, efficiently manage time and adhere to job budgets set by Project Managers.  The CADD Technician will be responsible for production of CAD drawings from sketches, hardline drawings, other electronic formats, and "red line drawings". 

    • Assist Licensed Surveyor and Mapper in the application of principles, methods of Land Surveying.
    • Assist in developing and implementing new procedures and practices.
    • Perform boundary research, calculation and analysis.
    • Perform deed research and deed plotting.
    • Prepare legal descriptions, survey drawings and plats.
    • Provide technical office support.
    • Perform quality control checks of drawings and deliverables.
    • Ensure schedules and production objections are met.
    • Ensure accuracy of reports by data review and resolving discrepancies internally for assigned projects.
    • Plan, prioritize and organize effectively; and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all staff and clients.
    • Organize, multi-task, prioritize and re-prioritize daily workload and work with minimum supervision and the ability to meet deadlines, establish deadlines, and to prioritize deadlines
    • Collect, organizes, disseminate and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Carry out other duties as assigned by management.

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

    • Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Design or equivalent.
    • Minimum 3+ years CAD experience (drafting land surveys).
    • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation is a plus.
    • Certified Survey Technician Certification Level III+, S.I.T. Certification is a plus.
    • Familiarity with industry codes and standards.

    • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics including algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. 
    • Ability to write information including reports. 
    • Ability to speak effectively to clients, vendors and coworkers up through all levels of management and staff. 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • The job requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a computer workstation.
    • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
    • Regularly required to sit, talk, or listen.
